Theory behind Carly’s work:

The act of displacing is something that I have been focusing my most recent work around, taking photographs of mostly old buildings and deserted urban areas to achieve a sense of confusion and dislocation in space. The range of photography I use to create these pieces is taken from different places, from Paris, London to old unrecognizable areas of Belfast I then layer these images to create collages. These are fundamentally unreal spaces. As heterotopias, they deal with its real and imagined possibilities, a mix of 'utopian' escapism and turning virtual possibilities into reality. Changing the perception of reality and the reliability of memory, through this process.
